Terms of Service
Last updated: July 30, 2026
1. Service and beta status
Open Backtest provides market replay, charting, simulated trading, backtesting, read-only portfolio and trading-journal imports, and related developer tools. During the closed beta, features may change, become unavailable, or contain errors without notice.
Beta data is provided for testing and is not guaranteed to be retained. Export anything you need to keep. Temporary Premium access may be changed or withdrawn before launch.
2. Accounts
You must provide accurate information, protect your credentials and passkeys, and promptly report unauthorized access. You are responsible for activity performed through your account.
3. Acceptable use
You may not use the service to:
- break the law or infringe another person's rights;
- probe, disrupt, overload, scrape, or bypass security and rate limits;
- upload malicious code or attempt to access another account;
- present simulated or historical results as guaranteed future performance;
- upload or import content, scripts, files, or market data unless you have the rights and permissions needed to use them in the service; or
- extract, resell, sublicense, or redistribute third-party market data, economic data, news, or other provider content through or from the service.
4. Financial disclaimer
Open Backtest does not provide investment, legal, tax, or financial advice. Backtests and simulations have limitations, may contain inaccurate market data, and do not predict future results. Trading involves risk of loss.
5. External accounts and third-party data
Broker, wallet, and portfolio connections are read-only. Open Backtest imports balances, positions, transactions, executions, and related metadata for analysis and journaling; it does not receive private keys or seed phrases and does not transmit orders to a broker or trading venue.
A connection may be provided directly by a broker or through a third-party connector such as SnapTrade. Brokerage credentials entered in a hosted provider portal are handled by that provider and are not received by Open Backtest. Availability, history depth, refresh frequency, and fields vary by provider. Imported information can be delayed, incomplete, duplicated, or temporarily unavailable and must not be used as the sole record for trading, tax, accounting, or regulatory purposes.
Third-party data and services remain subject to their providers' terms, licences, and intellectual-property rights. Access through an API does not grant a right to republish or commercially redistribute that data. You may disconnect a provider and choose whether imported journal data is retained or deleted where the product offers that choice.
6. Plans and billing
Paid plans, subscriptions, organization seats, prices, renewal periods, and cancellation terms are shown before checkout. Closed-beta Premium access may be promotional and does not guarantee a free public plan.
Purchases are governed by the Terms of Sale and processed through Stripe Managed Payments. Stripe acts as merchant of record; checkout, order management, and transaction support may be presented through Link.
7. Your content, scripts, and our software
You keep ownership of content you submit. You grant us the limited rights needed to host, process, secure, and display it to operate the service. Open Backtest and its software, branding, and documentation remain protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.
Pine-compatible source code is stored as private account content and executed to provide charting and simulation features. You are responsible for ensuring that scripts you upload, copy, or share do not infringe third-party rights or confidentiality obligations.
The service includes third-party and open-source software. Its use remains subject to the applicable third-party licence notices, which prevail for those components. References to third-party products or trademarks do not imply affiliation or endorsement.
8. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the service and request account deletion. We may restrict or terminate access to protect users, enforce these terms, comply with law, or end the beta. Some records may be retained where legally required.
9. Availability and liability
The beta is provided on an as-is and as-available basis. To the extent permitted by law, we do not guarantee uninterrupted operation, data accuracy, profitability, or preservation of beta data, and we exclude indirect or consequential losses.
10. Changes and contact
We may update these terms as the product and legal framework mature. Material changes will be announced in the application. Questions can be submitted through Get Help or the feedback form.
11. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by French law. If you are a consumer, you keep the mandatory protections of the country where you habitually reside and may bring proceedings before its courts. French consumers may also use the free consumer-mediation process described in the Terms of Sale.
